Meat & Seafood Export FAQs

Common questions about exporting meat and seafood to China.

What is CIFER registration?
CIFER (China Import Food Enterprise Registration) is the GACC online system for registering overseas food manufacturers. All meat and seafood facilities must register through CIFER before exporting to China.
Which countries can export meat to China?
China maintains a list of approved countries for each meat category. Not all countries are approved for all product types. We check your country's market access status and guide you through any additional requirements.
How long does meat product registration take?
CIFER registration for meat and seafood facilities typically takes 4-8 weeks. Some categories require additional approvals from Chinese authorities. We manage the complete registration process for you.
What labeling is required for imported meat?
Imported meat products must have Chinese labels showing product name, country of origin, manufacturer registration number, production date, shelf life, and storage conditions. Labels must comply with GB 7718 standards.
Do seafood and fish need the same registration as meat?
Yes. Both meat and seafood products require CIFER registration. However, some aquatic products may have additional requirements depending on the species and processing method. We assess your specific products.
Can we use the same registration for multiple product lines?
Each facility gets one CIFER registration number, but it covers all products manufactured at that facility. If you have multiple facilities, each needs its own registration.
